Alicia Keys - The Element of Freedom Album Review
The Element of Freedom is the fourth studio album by twelve-time Grammy Award winner Pop/R&B diva Alicia Keys, released on December 15, 2009, on MBK Entertainment and J Records in the United States.
Alicia describes “The Element of Freedom” as a dichotomy of strength and vulnerability with the music really strong, drums aggressive, yet her voice vulnerable and delicate.
The album was produced by Alicia, Kerry Krucial Brothers and Jeff Bhasker. Featuring the hits “Doesn’t Mean Anything” and “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart“, The Element Of Freedom promises to be one of Alicia Keys biggest releases to date.

It’s her own version and includes a new verse from Jay-Z. In addition to Brothers, the singer/songwriter/producer enlists the production talents of Jeff Brasker (Kanye West, Keri Wilson).
“It feels emotional and vulnerable but there’s also a kind of freedom in it. I can’t quite find a better word than freedom to really describe it. Even though every song has touches of different textures and sounds, the overall [sense of] freedom is the thing that grounds it. It’s definitely the theme of where I am in my life.”

Just finished listening to it for the first time. Surely an R&B album for those who doubt the skills of modern soul/ R&B artists. Lovely tunes with Alicia’s soulful and beautifully weighted vocals, I love this album. There’s only one duff track ‘Love is Blind’. She makes Rihanna sound very harsh and un-soulful.
