Although Avenged Sevenfold may have stolen their name from the book of Genesis, they thankfully aren’t yet another ruddy awful Christian rock band that try converting us to the ways of the Lord while pelting us with a load of watered-down Metallica riffs. The Californians’ latest single ‘Almost Easy’ is quite the opposite, with a selection of guitar thrashes so deranged and beefy that they should probably be tested for B.S.E and M. Shadow’s (Yes we know the name’s a bit daft…but hey they are American) snarling vocals firing up the band’s engine room, ‘Almost Easy’ probably deserves its own personal lion-tamer to keep it under control. source digitalspy.co.uk

Hey dork, Christian music today is just as good, if not better, than much of the garbage out there (both in lyrics and in musicianship — saying this as an accomplished musician).
Have you ever listened to Third Day? I will put their music and lyrics up against anyone you have — both in terms of versatility and musicianship.
Matt Maher, a Catholic musician, is amazing. Listen to the song, “Love Has Come” or The End and the Beginning” and tell me if this is ‘crap’.
On the heavier side, everyone knows that Switchfoot are a Christian-inspired band as well.
By the way, if you trace the roots of metal music, it traces all its roots to Western CHRISTIAN classical music — though, of course, paling in comparison.
And, as far as trying to ‘convert’ people (and speaking as a convert), many of these other bands are trying to ‘convert’ people to their way of thinking — it cuts both ways. If you want the despair, melancholy, depression, songs about broken homes, drugs, alcohol, one night stands, etc. that is the common staple in pretty much ALL contemporary secular rock — go for it. I will go a little deeper thank you.

also check out red they are i would say 1 of the best christian rock bands w/out having that youth-pastor-never-been-through-anything-never-done-wrong style
they mix posotivity and depressed lyrics

hey mate i just thought u should know i think instead of
“I let you down inside with suicidal memories” on 17th line it is
“I left you bound and tied with suicidal memories” just sounds more accurate

there are some good christian bands out there i dont think bashing them all is appropriate there are some tho like switchfoot and audioslave that i dont exactly care for but have u ever listend to gwen stacy? or haste the day? bands exactly like a7x meaty aggressive riffs good vocals try listening to them and dont just bash because u dont know youtube gwen stacy and check out gone fishing see you in a year i wouldnt say thats watered down metallica riffs and im in no way bashing you ethier i know where your coming from but not all christian bands are like that and they’re not all pelting us with “jesus lyrics”

Hey, about Christian music… there are so many awesome bands out there that give a good message and still knock your socks off at the same time, lol. Try Red, Until June, Disciple (oh my gosh…fricken awesome), Pillar, Kutlass,Lecrae, Emery, The Fray, Switchfoot(my absolute all time FAVORITE) or even David Crowder Band. Music is a gift and I definitely take full advantage of it.

m. shadows is hot yes, but the lead guitar, SyNyStEr GaTeS, is omg drop dead sexy!!!!!!!!! and ofcourse, the song rox my sox 2!!!
