Best Christmas Albums Of The Year

It’s the season to be jolly, the season when we all try to be better persons, when we gather with our family, forgive our enemies and listen to beautiful carols. Since October, artists thought about this time of year and started to release their own versions of Christmas songs. Here are the best Christmas albums of the year that are really worth listening this month.

Lady Antebellum - On This Winter's Night Album Cover

1. Lady Antebellum - On This Winter’s Night
Since all Lady Antebellum’s studio albums have been certified platinum, you can easily assume that their holiday record is at least half as good as the other non-holiday efforts. On This Winter’s Night is the group’s second holiday collection and their first full-length Christmas album. Though it includes only one original track (”On This Winter’s Night”) and the band’s versions of Christmas classics such as “The First Noel,” “Silver Bells,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “Silent Night,” this album is by far the best of the best Christmas albums released in 2012 and you shouldn’t waste a minute thinking whether to buy it or not.

Cee Lo Green - Cee Lo's Magic Moment Album Cover

2. Cee Lo Green - Cee Lo’s Magic Moment
Cee Lo Green will make you live magic moments with his holiday-themed album that includes a duet with fellow “The Voice” judge Christina Aguilera (on “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”), Straight No Chaser, Rod Stewart and The Muppets. It’s a happy album filled with surprises and the artist’s personal “soulful take on a host of Christmas classics”, as Cee Lo described his album in an interview with Billboard magazine.

Rod Stewart - Merry Christmas, Baby Album Cover

3. Rod Stewart - Merry Christmas, Baby
This holiday album is a must-have for both your Stewart collection and Christmas collection, because it’s the crooner’s first such themed studio effort in a very long music career. The legendary pop singer joined forces with producer David Foster and singers Mary J. Blige, Michael Buble, and Cee-Lo Green so that you won’t get bored listening the wide rendition of classic carols and the original “Red-Suited Super Man.”

Christmas In the Sand - Colbie Caillat Album Cover

4. Colbie Caillat - Christmas In the Sand
If you live on an exotic island or you simply don’t live in an area where Santa Claus comes with the snow flakes, pop songstress Colbie Caillat has prepped five original songs and 10 holiday classics especially for you. With Gavin DeGraw and Brad Paisley featuring on a couple of songs, may you have a happy sunny Christmas!

Blake Shelton - Cheers, It's Christmas Album Cover

5. Blake Shelton - Cheers, It’s Christmas
This is the first holiday album for the “Voice” coach Blake Shelton, so you shouldn’t be too judgmental if you don’t like the result of his team work with his wife, Miranda Lambert, Michael Buble and Kelly Clarkson. Including new songs as well as traditional carols, this album is only for those who are into country music and are not afraid to celebrate Christmas in the old American fashion way.

Christina Perri - A Very Merry Perri Christmas - Colbie Caillat Album Cover

6. Christina Perri - A Very Merry Perri Christmas
Though she’s new in this industry and though this is rather an EP than a full length album, Christina Perri’s effort won’t be in vain. Her “Something About December” will simply take you into that Christmas mood in no time.

John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John - This Christmas

7. John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John - This Christmas
If you are a “Grease” fan, than you will love this album undoubtedly; if you hate that film, you’ll also hate This Christmas. But despite all personal favoritism, you have to admit that pop singer Olivia Newton-John and her partner Travolta did a pretty good job for all the old-fashioned nostalgic out there.
