‘If I Were a Boy‘ and ‘Single Ladies‘ are the first singles by American R&B singer Beyonce Knowles, from her third solo studio album entitled I Am…, which is scheduled to be released on November 18, 2008.
On October 8, 2008, ‘If I Were a Boy’ debuted on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show, while “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” debuted on Power 105.1. The music videos will be premiered on October 9th.
Beyonce filmed the music video for this song in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood. She was dressed up as a NYPD police officer.

Pathetic… all you chicks saying how bad your guys are, have you ever noticed that you may just have faults also? I think that the worst line is, “But you’re just a boy”. Just a boy? If a man wrote a song which was the reverse of this, with the last line being, “But you’re just a girl”, all of the women across the world will bristle with indignation, yet men are supposed to take this song meekly. Typical.

First off, this song is not sexist. Second,their are only two sides to the arguments going on in this little commenting room. One is that boys are a$$ holes and blah blah blah. The second is that this song is sexist and girls do the same thing. to solve both sides of the matter…this woman is singing because it’s her passion and she’s good at it. This event may have happened to her, she isn’t singing about all guys, she’s singing about one. Another statement to back up the first argument is that women are very passionate when they sing or write, they are very expressive in their emotions. What hurts a girl worse than the love her her “soul mate..??” Of course women sing about how their man hurt them, it’s what their passionate about most.The second argument is not a valid argument as this song is not stating that girls do not do the same thing. Boys aren’t stubborn. Stop whining. Maybe all the men you’ve been with have been stubborn. I think this song strongly reaches out to viewers and gives off various judgements. For example; guys are going to think this song is pathetic or racist. Girls who’ve been hurt before are gonna type on and on about how this song ‘fits their life’ and what not. And girls who maybe see guys as a different perspective then ‘pigs’ and ‘man whores’ are going to give off a completely different vibe. It seriously depends on who you ask.
I also disagree about this song involving any sexists apparel. She’s speaking from her heart most likely from a past incident, and she’s wishing to reach out to her fans who have too.
I have always been a natural fan of Beyonce’. This song puts me in neither a more positive, nor negative direction. It sounds nice, and the lyrics sound sincere.
And to whoever said “You’re a girl, that’s what your parents wanted” needs to go back and read the lyrics another round… she’s speaking metaphorically. That as to some man in a past relationship, she would’ve made better choices and been more respectful.

I love this song. But im afraid nicholas, you made me feel like because im a woman i should put out at every opportunity. A woman should not be discredited for not putting out. I agree that not all men are like this song. but the minority spoil it for the majority. I had a cheating boyfriend and i never knew. There were signs that i chose to ignore and didnt realise till afterwards.so every person in their own way is to blame for not picking up the signs until it was too late. In the end everybody is different and has different opinions and songs, but nobody should be pulled down or blamed because they dont put out! Women are not sex toys. Im appauled that you blame us for men cheating because of not putting out. Sex is not something that should be forced upon anybody, including men. We are not breeding machines as was thought in the victorian times, i think you need to sit down and think about how you perceive women. There are alot of women cheaters out there aswell as men, and if everybody blames each other for it, then it would be a vicious circle, people cant always handle a serious relationship and thats why they go from one person to another, their scared of commiting. I agree with this song as far as ‘her man’ goes. Some guys and girls do act like that and it is a shame to those hurt by it. This, from my experience, is not true…I have cheated on someone before and I loved her VERY much. The act is not drawn from hatred or love, it is formed from a sin called lust. Now I agree, if you love the person, you shouldn’t cheat, it won’t get you anywhere but down hill with your beloved…but you can. What matters is your mind set on cheating and whether your heart will let you do it or not.
