I think it’s a pretty fun song, it’s catchy and the lyrics are amusing.
Britney has talent, and if you want to know what she contributes to society then go to one of her concerts and see the fans.
Hopping on to a forum to randomly criticize really calls into question what you are contributing to society. The measure of contribution should be based on the opinions of others, not of your own.
Britney is awesome in the eyes of one hell of a lot of people.

How can people even be so quick to say that the song is about sending a “bad message”… perhaps its a cunning play on words and we as humans are just perceiving it as being sexual. In response to entry 16, while I do not “freakin’ love Britney” (in fact, the thought of her makes me cringe), I think that your response only validates the effectiveness of her songs. Her lyrics are intended to get god-fearing people like yourself to respond with outrage, and this only intensifies the hype. The best thing you can do to reduce her fame is to not add to it with comments such as that.
As for the benefit for society- she has supplied where there was demand. This is capitalism, not communism or socialism. Not all jobs are in place for the “greater good.”

I am a soccer mom *LOL* but the difference between me and them is the fact that if I dont want my kids listening to it, I change the station. If you teach your kids good morals and yes how to be a respected young woman, then you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. I was a teen myself, but I was able to have open communication with my parents about things. The communication between us is what kept me on the right path… it wasn’t sheltering me from everything… thats just ridiculous
If you try to hide things from your kids (and im not saying tell them everything) they are going to be more prone to want to explore all the things you’ve hid from them…

Okay. This song rocks for several reasons: 1. It’s Britney…duh. 2. It’s like a mashup blend of alot of her different song styles in one song. 3. The words can actually kinda be taken in a few different meanings. It doesn’t necessarily have to be about sex. Though it is… but still.
So yeah, if you don’t like the song, don’t listen. Britney is an ADULT, she is no longer a teenager, singing to other teenagers. She sings to her new fans, but most of the people listening to her now were her age in 1998 when she started out, and OMG her first ever single was about sex! GASP! Matter of fact MOST of her songs have all been about sex. Especially on the more recent albums. But she has always had songs about sex on each album. Parents need to GROW UP and learn that if they dont want their kids listening to it, then don’t let them. Britney’s music is not for kids. Its more for the mature audience. I don’t understand why everyone makes a big deal about her music being about sex when it has been so for eleven years now since she started back in 1998. i love it and really alot of children dont listen to her music. When i went to the concert in d.c i noticed a lot of more older girls and guys a lot of them had drinks in hand and were getting down to her music. I think a lot of her fans are fans from when brit first came out on the scene much like i am. I liked her when i was 7 and at 17 i love her even more. I love the fact she went crazzy for everyone to see because it made her seem more like a human and not some pop star that cant do anything wrong. I looooove Britney!!!!!!!! I think that parents need to calm down about the song being about sex. Like other people said on here, her songs have always been about sex, they just weren’t so upfront about it. If you don’t agree with her messages, then just don’t listen to her! When she started in 1998, she was 16 and I was 11. I’m 22 now, and the audience she’s reaching is from about 18 or so and older. She’s not singing songs for teenagers anymore. I don’t think it’s fair to judge her either. Just because she sings about something doesn’t mean that other people will start believing in it. If you raised your children right, then they know right from wrong and will make the right choices. I listened to a lot of music at a young age that I shouldn’t have (such as Marilyn Manson) and it didn’t have an affect on me because my parents taught me right from wrong. But I’m still a Manson fan, and an Eminem fan. Doesn’t mean I agree with what they say. Anyway, quit hating on Britney. There are other people out there who sing for children such as Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, etc.

But those that do speak out against it and act on what the song says are giving the music that power. Be your own person. Stop buying spinning rims and acting like a slut because of the music. Parents be there for your children more. Stop sheltering them and be there more to explain things in the correct way. Acting all crazy about the song the message sends gives it power.
You have a choice not to listen to it but so do your children. The more you cover their ears, the more curious they will be. The music industry is a problem, but you are the enabler. Be there for your children and explain things in a way that they understand. If your kids see a scary movie and become afraid you explain to them that its just a movie and they accept that. So when a song comes out that says “look at me I’m a total slut”. Explain to them that its just a song and should not read into it. Explain to them that the people who listen and believe are all very weak and will never amount to anything if they don’t come to realize that.
Those of you that take offense to this message are the guilty that I’m talking about. Be honest with yourself and those you love. Accept that and fix it if you’re tired of being a puppet.

I admit its a catchy song, good for club/dance stuff.
I had no idea Britney Spears was even making a new album after “Circus” until I heard this “1 2 3″ song on the radio and was like, “wth, Britney?” LOL. I’m a so-so fan of Britney’s, she got her start when I was in middle school (junior high) so I guess I’m part of the generation/fangroup that “grew up” with her, hehe….my point, anyway, is that overall this song is, in my opinion, a “meh” song, its okay, not one of her best, but its interesting to hear her new style…. and even though I’m not a fan, I’m glad to see her having a succesful, popular career again, after all that crap in her personal life….. Anyway. My opinion of the lyrics here is, its a more simpler version of the trick heard in “If You Seek Amy”, ya know? Much less sexually ambiguous, to be sure, but the last bit during the bridge, “…on the floor…” is the punchline. So relax people.

Britney and I are the same age, and I’v been listening to her since she started…she has always been forward about sex. Remember when she kissed Madonna on stage? And speaking of Madonna, the 80’s equivalent of Britney, I’ve listened to her ever since I can remember and I turned out fine…I know right from wrong and it’s my choice what I do with that knowledge. As soon as I heard this song I ran into the street, scored illegal drugs, boosted a case of condoms, stripped naked and began soliciting threeways and group sex from every person who crossed my path. I played the song continuously on my bose docked ipod nano and one person after another fell under the sirens (AKA Britney) hyponotic trance shedding their clothes to join in the Decadent (yet safe) orgy of carnal lust! Threeways fourways more ways!
Then I woke up! My parents taught me to treat others with respect. To see others points of view and never force or try to coerce someone to do something they didn’t want to do. Oh yeah, I almost forgot they also said try not to judge other people, be tolerant and kind and have a sence of humor. I have tried to follow those teachings throughout my life and Feel its served me well. I like the song and think Britneys given me some memorable entertainment through the years, From oops! to the vmas and now threeways. No she didn’t cure cancer or H1n1 or write any prolific life changing or reaffirming book, but she has sucessfully persued a career in a difficult field. If I didn’t care for the music for whatever reason I simply wouldn’t listen. I challenge everyone to stop avoiding the real issues that are facing our Society and help out our friends and neighbors by getting educated and involved and being part of the solution. Just donating one can of soup to your local food bank or offering your seat on the muni to an elderly person is a step in the right direction. If you are a parent or have contact with young people setting an example and spending quality time listening and talking openly with our children will help them differentiate between entertainment and real life and give them the tools to enjoy both.

I love Britney and I am all for freedom of speech…but this song is sooooo unappropriate. It is not so easy to always “turn the channel” when the song is being played…for instance, at a store in the mall. What you all need to realize is that Britney is no longer “bubblegum pop”. The generation that listened to her music back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s has grown up and grown beyond all that sugary-sweetness. For all of those that are worried about the message of the song:
I totally understand you, I get you. But the thing is that if the young generation takes on board all of this and do wrong when they know right from wrong; they haven’t been raised well enough. Let’s face it, every child needs to grow up soon enough and learn about stuff like this. you just have to trust you children enough to let them off their leash.
So there’s no point in worrying, and since I’m a chistian; the bible says that the world is only going to get worse anyways and there’s nothing we can do but hope and pray for those living in sin.
I think to be very honest; it matters where your heart is. If you listen to music like this and think all the wrong things then you’re in trouble, if not then don’t worry. No matter how hard you try to run away from all things bad in the world, there’s always something there. It’s sad but true.

I’m so encouraged to read these powerful arguments! Let me summarize some of them:
1. if you do a good job parenting, you’ll change the channel to protect your kids. And if you find the next station is playing Eminem, the next Lady Gaga, and the next Little Wayne, guess you gotta keep turning. Or, embrace Britney–hey, there are even worse things out there, so you can’t complain!
2. if you raise your kids right, don’t complain about that thickening toxic cloud of bad messages and examples. They’ll make good choices in spite of them, ’cause we know well-raised kids never get overtaken by bad influences. As for those kids who are raised by bad parents or stressed out single parents — I guess we’ll just write them off, they are just unlucky.
3. they’re just words, I don’t mind if my 4 year old daughter sings filth, she doesn’t understand yet how filthy it is. And when she does, I’ll tell her that singing filth is OK as long as she doesn’t actually believe the words she is singing. I’ll even sing the words for her until she learns them! And even if eventually she is influenced, it’s not important anyway, because who’s to say it’s not ok to live a hedonistic self-absorbed life? Even if God Himself did tell me, who’s God to tell me how to live?
4. Relax, you take life too seriously! No real purpose to it. So enjoy the music, get blasted out of your minds, and shake your bodies! And also, isn’t it just the luckiest random thing that we live in this free society? Good thing it doesn’t require a responsible, discerning, self-sacrificing populace to sustain it!

I think the beat was fantastic and actually I did not pay enough attention to its lyrics and now I don’t think there is anything wrong with that bcz other singers sing like this too and if we wanna blame Britney, we should blame them all.anyway I like this song Keep going BRIT,don’t pay attention to ur critics :)))

Seriously?? Nice beat to the song, but the words….really? You can’t come up with something more interesting than porno type of stuff about three-ways? Yeah, it’s “just a song”….but still not worth all this hoopla.

I have absolutely nothing against the message being portrayed here… but seriously, as far as songs go, this is pretty crappy. There is barely any substance to the lyrics, the beat is okay, but could have been done so much better. Overall, my question is, how on earth did this make it so far up in the charts?! FFS, I’m sure there are better ways to support the ‘message’ without popularizing such a pathetic excuse for a song…

And yes, “giving money to something” is a legit arguement. I’d be surprised if the guy complaining had done more for children’s charities than she has.
I’m not even a Britney fan, but jeez, if you’re not either, do something more productive with your time than watching her videos online.
If you’re that passionate about it, organize a group protest or write some letters to the record label or congress, but posting your dislike of Britney Spears on a message board full of Britney Spears fans seems counterproductive.
