Dave Gahan - Kingdom Video and Lyrics
Kingdom by Dave Gahan, Music Video and Lyrics
Fantastic song, really suits autumn, strange video though.
Kingdom is dark electro-rock, the throbbing, urgent beat reminiscent of none other than Nine Inch Nails. Gahan’s in fine voice too, spitting out the words with a venom that suggests there’s a very personal tale behind the lyrics. It’s doomy, atmospheric and Depeche Mode fans will love it.
Without Martin Gore’s steady influence though, Kingdom doesn’t really go anywhere. It’s lacking Gore’s surefire touch to turn it into a piece of magic like Personal Jesus or Enjoy The Silence. We’ll see what the forthcoming Hourglass holds, but for now this is probably for Depeche fans only.

Dave Gahan - Kingdom Lyrics
Can you feel me coming?
Open the door, it’s only me
I have that desperate feeling
And trouble is were I’m going to be
I know you hear me knocking
So open the door and set me free
If there’s a kingdom beyond it all
Is there a God that loves us all
Do we believe in love at all?
I’m still pretending I’m not a fool
So in your infinite wisdom
You show me how this life should be
All your love and glory
Doesn’t mean that much to me
If there’s a kingdom beyond it all
Is there a God that loves us all
Do we believe in love at all?
I’m still pretending I’m not a fool
Dave Gahan - Kingdom Review
Though perceived by many as just a hobby side project, there was no doubting the quality of Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan’s 2003 solo album, “Paper Monsters”. If the Mode-iness of its dark, dank electro wasn’t exactly a surprise, the lyrical and melodic strength of the album was unexpectedly impressive; not least because Gahan’s role in the electro-pop survivors is pretty much just a mouthpiece for Martin Gore’s words and sounds.
“Kingdom” continues Gahan’s solo take on Depeche Mode, with another sultry and sinister slab of industrial menace and tender anguish. Granted, the bleak questioning of the existence of God or any other higher power isn’t quite “Personal Jesus”, but then again, it’s been a while since Gore penned one of those either. Instead, it’s another chance to wallow in the stifling underworld which his other band once called their own and confirmation that as side projects go, Dave Gahan’s solo career is one to be taken seriously. source uk.launch.yahoo.com

I think this is an Awesome song, it doesnt lack any of Depeche Mode sounds since DM is more like Gaham voice in an Electric Influence. in my opinion He Doesnt Have Much Really a Career Without Depeche Mode
