Mercy is the upcoming second single from the album Rockferry by Duffy.
It is to be released on February 25, 2008.
It was Jo Whiley’s record of the week on BBC Radio 1 for the week commencing 14th January 2008.
The song is just brilliant, so refreshing and the video is amazing, she is very talented and so are the dancers.
I hope she brings the younger masses to enjoy old soul and motown style music that will never disappear.

This song ROCKS!! Absolute best, freshes, hottest and brilliant new rock/motown song. Duffy is a goddess of sound, and quite breathtaking. I am hooked. Please, God, let a positive female music role model come around for younger women to admire.

To me it sounds like the words in the beginning of the song are “Hate to be an addict to the verse now”.
I haven’t been able to pick out the words a bit later in the song yet, but I’m working on it

anyway, as a response to #14 from Hans - i think the rest of the lyrics in the backgound are

These lyrics might be wrong, after all, I’m just a nobody from Norway trying to listen, but maybe, just maybe I got it? bytheway. i’m REALLY unsure about the last line “I just dont know anything at all” sounds like the last word is “upon”, then the words don’t fit. so if anybody can listen in hard and help out to get it right…

i’m not sure it’s “Hate to be addicted to the verse now” but it may be and is closer then i’ve come… for some reason I keep thinking that the last few words are take it to the past now or take it to the back now… maybe if we could slow down the song and listen to the first line that way??? (it might be to inaudible though…)

i love this song so much i whached duffy on paul and i could not get hold of her name so i called my cosen and he did not know duffy name because i thout that the song was; you got me begining i a vergin… so i went on top 10 and it said mercy -duffy so i tiped in duffy on youtube and the song came up and i love it and i have not stoped playing it since.

Mercy is a Howlin Wolf original tune called ‘Who’s Been Talking’, with new lyrics rambled over it, basically.
I’ve heard the tune to Warwick Avenue before as well.
This sort of stuff makes me aware that this artist is just another manufactured and produced ‘chick’, chosen for the look by some studio svengali who want to foisrt yet another lowtalent on the ££$$ paying public.
How long before her vocal is bolstered by effects and ‘tuned’ by the mixing desk? Probably already been done.

every now and then u hear a song and you just know its going to be popular without saying…… this is one of those songs….im betting it will be in the top ten charts, and ranked at number 0ne!!! I f***ing hate this song. No matter what I do, when I’m in my friend’s car, it’s always playing on the radio when I get out and then it’s stuck in my head for hours.
I actually like the music a lot, but the lyrics are absolutely idiotic. In fact, I think such good music was wasted on such dull, repetative lyrics. But no matter how good the music is (or actually, no matter how good the music COULD be) it will always be ruined by this ridiculous woman crooning the same goddamn line over and over again.
