The song is included on “The Odd Couple” album, it will be released on 15th April 2008.

Run Lyrics by Gnarls Barkley

Yeah its still the same
Can’t you feel the pain
When the needle hits the vein
Ain’t nothing like the real thing
I’ve seen it once before
And oh it’s something else
Good god

Cool breeze come on in
Sunshine come on down
These are the tear drops of the clown
Circus is coming to town
All I’m saying is sometimes I’m more scared of myself
You better
move
I said
move

Runaway
Runaway
Run children
Run for your life
Runaway
Runaway
Run children
Here it comes
I said run
Alright

Yeah I’m on the run
See where I’m coming from
When you see me coming run
Before you see what I’m running from
No time for question asking time is passing by
Alright

You can’t win child
We’ve all tried to
You’ve been lied to
It’s all ready inside you
Either you run right now
Or you best get ready to die
You better
move
I said
move

Runaway
Runaway
Run children
Run for your life
Runaway
Runaway
Run children
Ooh
Here it comes
I Said run

Hurry little children
Run this way
I have got a beast at bay
La la la la la la la
La la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la l a
La la la la l a
Runaway
runaway
Run children
run for your life
runaway
runaway
run children
here it comes
said run

Thanks for telling us about the video caz.

    It’s a great song, enjoy ! :)

is it just me, or is this about doing hard drugs?

  4. mc Says:

Re: whether the song is about drugs or not– Cee-lo, the singer, is heavily tattooed, and actually has one of a laughing clown on his arm, just above where he wears his watch. It seems to me that the first verse lyrics are more likely to refer to that, and to the extreme adrenaline rush of dealing with physical pain, than to heroin or other drug abuse.

  5. tonk Says:

A tattoo needle does not hit the vein, therefore it is almost certainly about hard drugs (I have done some, and RUN AWAY is exactly what I would advise!)

  6. Greg Says:

he aint talkin about anything like that he is talkin about the pains of life he is sayin run children cause children han innocence an can escape the pain of life no drugs or anything like that more like personal demonns

  7. awesome peoples Says:

  9. crazy?... or stupid? Says:

…when you take the needle/vein/rush part of it and look at it next to the “sunshine, come on in…cool breeze, come on down” part, I’m quite certain the only logical conclusion to anyone who has any sense is that he is referring to drugs.

That being said, my personal opinion is that it’s an amazing song.

  10. Barry Says:

    The line,

“When you see me coming run
Before you see what I’m running from,”

sounds like it means drugs. Because if you see the monster of drugs he knows you might go “hey, that doesn’t look so bad” and get hooked.

this song is about drugs. no debate, my best friend died from shooting up 6 months ago and i cannot hear this song without crying or having shivers up and down my spine. if you don’t think it is about drugs you have either never experienced them or the death they cause.

  12. hans Says:

simply about drugs? come on! that is much too simple!!!
the drug abuse is a metaphtor for the personal demons, the pain and the handicaps of life.

  13. XxavoOo Says:

in my opinion, this song is talking about the abuse of drugs.

at first, it seems he’s enjoying it, but always rephrases to run away from it. so, the song speaks of how drugs might seem good, but they are actually really dangerous.

perhaps the personal demons the song speaks of are those created by the abuse of drugs.

still, the song is awesome, absolutely incredible.
