I Feel Better by Hot Chip, Music Video and Lyrics
I Feel Better is the second single by British alternative dance band Hot Chip, from their fourth album, “One Life Stand”. The song is due for release on April 19, 2010.
The song “I Feel Better” was described by Alexis Taylor as a song “trying to reach a kind of positive conclusion and positive state of mind whilst also trying to think about the terrible state the world is in”. Al Doyle explained that the lyrics were about “the malaise of living in a world where there’s climate change and finding solace in the arms of your partner”.
The video shows Hot Chip mocking boybands (in particular JLS) in their new Peter Serafinowicz directed music video.
You can listen the song here, this is the official video.
Hot Chip I Feel Better Lyrics
She said: ‘How did we get ourselves so lost?’
And I said: ‘I don’t know, but we will not be leaving tonight, tonight
When you hold me I, I feel better’
I only want one night, together in our arms
This is the longest night, we’re meeting arms to arms
Nothing is wasted and life is worth living
Heaven is nowhere, just look to the stars
There is a day that is yours for embracing
Everything’s nothing, and nothing is ours
Nothing is wasted and life is worth living (I only want one night)
Heaven is nowhere, just look to the stars
There is a day that is yours for embracing (This is the longest night)
Everything’s nothing, and nothing is ours
‘And maybe if we’d never come this way
Then we would live and prosper
But I doubt it
We are a violent race
and we deserve what we get
When you hold me, when you hold me
I feel better, I feel better’
I only want one night, together in our arms (I feel better)
This is the longest night, we’re meeting arms to arms (I feel better)
I only want one night, together in our arms (I feel better)
This is the longest night, we’re meeting arms to arms
Nothing is wasted, a life is worth living
Heaven is nowhere just look to the stars
There is a day that is yours for embracing
Everything’s nothing, and nothing is ours
Nothing is wasted and life is worth living
Heaven is nowhere, just look to the stars
There is a day that is yours for embracing
Everything’s nothing, and nothing is ours
Nothing is wasted, and life is worth living (I only want one night, together in our arms)
Heaven is nowhere, just look to the stars
There is a day that is yours for embracing (This is the longest night, we’re meeting arms to arms)
Everything’s nothing and nothing is ours
Nothing is wasted, a life is worth living (I only want one night, together in our arms)
Heaven is nowhere, just look to the stars
There is a day that is yours for embracing (This is the longest night, we’re meeting arms to arms)
Everything’s nothing, and nothing is ours
Song Information
Vocalist Alexis Taylor stated that the song was based on Joe Goddard “listening to Susan Boyle on TV and [he] thought of [the] string melody […] by kind of misremembering [the] Les Misérables song”. Following this, Taylor wrote the chorus, which he described as sounding like “La Isla Bonita” by Madonna.
