James Blunt - Same Mistake Lyrics

So while I’m turning in my sheets
And once again, I cannot sleep
Walk out the door and up the street
Look at the stars beneath my feet
Remember rights that I did wrong
So here I go

Hello, hello

There is no place I cannot go
My mind is muddy but
My heart is heavy, does it show
I lose the track that loses me
So here I go

oo oooooo ooo ooo oo oooo…

And so I sent some men to fight,
And one came back at dead of night,
said “Have you seen my enemy?”
said “he looked just like me”
So I set out to cut myself
And here I go

oo oooooo ooo ooo oo oooo…

I’m not calling for a second chance,
I’m screaming at the top of my voice,
Give me reason, but don’t give me choice,
Cos I’ll just make the same mistake again,

oo oooooo ooo ooo oo oooo…

And maybe someday we will meet
And maybe talk and not just speak
Don’t buy the promises ’cause
There are no promises I keep,
and my reflection troubles me
so here I go

oo oooooo ooo ooo oo oooo…

I’m not calling for a second chance,
I’m screaming at the top of my voice,
Give me reason, but don’t give me choice,
Cos I’ll just make the same mistake (REPEAT) again

oo oooooo ooo ooo oo oooo…

So while I’m turning in my sheets

And once again, I cannot sleep

Walk out the door and up the street

Look at the stars

Look at the stars, falling down,

And I wonder where, did I go wrong.

James Blunt seemed to come out of nowhere a couple years ago to become an international superstar. His highly anticipated new album “All The Lost Souls” is a certified smash, topping charts across the globe last week and debuting at No. 7 in the US.

About the video ‘Same Mistake’

The video for Same Mistake was filmed in Toronto, Canada on October 5, 2007. It was directed by Jonas Akerlund, who is well known for his work with artists such as Madonna and Christina Aguilera. The video uses an interesting filming technique, where the camera is attached to a frame worn on Blunt’s upper torso and is focused on his face throught the entire video. It was released on November 1, 2007 on the website of The Sun, a British tabloid-style newspaper, and on MSN.

The camera “follows” Blunt through a day in his life, from awakening with a beautiful young woman beside him, through his morning ablutions and breakfast, strolling his neighbourhood, meeting up with friends, and eventually arriving at a club. At the club, Blunt becomes the focus of attention of numerous women, although his reaction appears to be zombie-like. Eventually he leaves the club, and returns home with one of the women. They make love, although Blunt appears detached and bored. The video ends with Blunt singing “where did I go wrong?” and falling asleep.

Here is what James Blunt talking about the song.

“Same Mistake” I wrote while I was on the road, and I can’t remember exactly when - it was pretty early on, actually. So we’ve been able to road test that for a while now, and we knew that it went really well - so well that we actually stopped playing it for a while just so we didn’t bore ourselves by overplaying it and so hopefully other people didn’t hear it too much so when we released it on this album it would be new and fresh to us all. Again, having toured it, we were a bit nervous as to whether or not we’d be able to capture it in the studio, but I think we’ve done it and that’s a really exciting song.
