The Night Sky is a song written and performed by English piano rock band Keane. The song will be released as a one-off charity single released by the band in aid of War Child. It was released as a download on October 22 and then a physical release on Island Records on October 29. It was also released in USB format. Keane - The Night Sky Lyrics
One day I will be
Back in our old street
Safe from the noise that’s
Falling around me
And we’ll release this town from the people
Who are trying to knock it down
And then only city lights will brighten the night sky
And there will be no sound
Open the bars and
Open the markets
Open the banks and
Open the churches
And we’ll release this town from the people
Who are trying to knock it down
And then only city lights will brighten the night sky
Sing with the song of Keane, The Night Sky lyrics!
And there will be no sound
We’ve been cowering so long
Oh what I would give
I ask so little
Oh what I would give
To stand at the bus stop
Or browse in a bookshop
To sleep and always be still
And we’ll release this town from the people
Who are trying to knock it down
And then only city lights will brighten the night sky
And i will be set free from the people
Who are trying to bury me
And then only fireworks will light the sky at night
Keane - The Night Sky Review
Following the old adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Keane’s latest 4 minute single sounds very much like their last 4 minute single - a mid-paced ballad full of rousing keys and wistful lyrics. Not that there’s anything innately wrong with that formula, but, at the same point, there’s nothing particularly fresh or inspiring about it either. Here, on, ‘The Night Sky,’ a track recorded exclusively for the charity, War Child, the ever-pensive Tom Chaplin ponders the effects of conflict from the perspective of an infant. A worthy cause then, but doubters will remain unconvinced.

I whole-heartedly disagree with the review of this song. It is beautiful and made me cry. I think the reviewer shouldn’t write a review for a song if you can’t understand the depth and sincerity of the lyrics and in particular because it seems they don’t even enjoy the band’s music to begin with. If they are a doubter themselves then this band may not be for them but it is for me!
