Kenny Chesney - The Boys of Fall Lyrics

When I feel that chill, smell that fresh cut grass
I’m back in my helmet, cleats and shoulder pads
Standing in the huddle listening to the call
Fans going crazy for the boys of fall
They didn’t let just anybody in that club
Took every ounce of heart and sweat and blood
To get to wear those game day jerseys down the hall
Kings of the school man, we’re the boys of fall

(Chorus)
Well it’s turn and face the Stars and Stripes
It’s fighting back them butterflies
It’s call it in the air, alright yes sir we want the ball
And it’s knocking heads and talking trash
It’s slinging mud and dirt and grass
It’s I got your number, I got your back when your back’s against the wall
You mess with one man you got us all
The boys of fall

In little towns like mine that’s all they got
Newspaper clippings fill the coffee shops
The old men will always think they know it all
Young girls will dream about the boys of fall

(Chorus)
Well it’s turn and face the Stars and Stripes
It’s fighting back them butterflies
It’s call it in the air, alright yes sir we want the ball
And it’s knocking heads and talking trash
It’s slinging mud and dirt and grass
It’s I got your number, I got your back when your back’s against the wall
You mess with one man you got us all
The boys of fall

(Chorus)
Well it’s turn and face the Stars and Stripes
It’s fighting back them butterflies
It’s call it in the air, alright yes sir we want the ball
And it’s knocking heads and talking trash
It’s slinging mud and dirt and grass
It’s I got your number, I got your back when your back’s against the wall
You mess with one man you got us all
The boys of fall

We’re the boys of fall

We’re the boys of fall

Song Information

The song talks about playing high school football.

“The Boys Of Fall” really tells the truth of the game of football. The players really do become so close that they are pretty much like brothers to one another and will always have each others back. Not alot of people can pull off a song geared towards football but this song does just that. It tells the story of the players of argueably America’s most poular sport, Football.

Kenny not only wrote a song for football players but is so talented that the song is for all the ” devoted Dads and Moms “. This is, by far, the greatest song for the players to know that talented songwriters do care about thema nd the sport they put sweat into. May God Bless you Kenny!

Watching this video reminds me sooooo much of my dad and how much I love him and want him to be happy !!!!!! Most 13 year old girls don’t think about their dad that much but I do !!! I’m not like most girls !!!

I posted before, it’s was awhile back. I watch this video alot, it takes me back to the days when My Boys of Fall were younger. My oldest is a police officer of 16 yr’s and now my youngest just got into police work. This video says it all Kenny…I get a tear (like now) in my eye and a proud heart because of this song/video and what it means. And post # 2 don’t be like everyone else take it from me, a dad with a daughter too, hold on as long as you can. I’m not like most Dads I want to keep my boys small but can’t, life they grow up. This song makes Moms and Dads cry but that’s okay means the songs touches the heart. Great Song Kenny.
P.S. Back when Kenny was in Tus. Alabama after the bad storm I got my youngest son surprise tickets to concert and what did he do, ” he called me when Kenny sang this song and held his cell up and said ” DAD THIS IS FOR YOU” Thanks Kenny for all the memories!!!
