LeAnn Rimes - Family Editorial Reviews, Product Description

From the time she burst onto the music scene as a teenager with the smash hit “Blue” to the release of her new studio album “Family,” she has seen it all while taking it with a grain of salt.
Some people will always see her as the little girl with the booming voice. She wants to change all that, and part of that process will start with her latest album “Family.” For the first time, LeAnn wrote or co-wrote every song on the album. From the autobiographical first track “Family” to the hit single “Nothin’ Better To Do,” she pours out her soul for the world to see. While the album is incredibly personal, LeAnn managed to create music that is incredibly universal. Her confident, compelling voice helps to solidify her as one of the premier vocalists in Country music. “Family” showcases her diversity as a vocalist from engaging duets with Marc Broussard on “Nothing Wrong” and Bon Jovi on “Til We’re Not Strangers” to the soul searching song “What I Cannot Change.”
Through LeAnn’s journey to adulthood, growing up, and developing as a writer and vocalist, she has produced an album that is one for the ages that chronicles the myriad relationships and experiences that have shaped the life of one of America’s most successful artist.

Here is a nice review that I agree with by Amanda Richards from amazon.com

LeAnn Rimes latest album is based on her personal life experiences, and although it may not be her best album, you have to give her marks not only for the sentiment, but for sharing songwriting duties on five of the tracks with her husband. First single “Nothin’ Better to Do” is one these songs, and although it has a wonderfully upbeat chorus, it’s unfortunate that I couldn’t understand most of the lyrics.

The standout songs are the collaborations with Bon Jovi, Reba McEntire and Marc Broussard, but also check out “Fight”, “Something I Can Feel”, “I Want You With Me” and “Doesn’t Everybody”.

The vocals on some tracks are clearer than on others, and some songs are produced better than others, but all in all the album passes muster. It’s a good Country album, just not a great one.

By the time Rimes turned twenty-one, she had a slew of country hits (”Blue”), one big pop crossover (”How Do I Live”) and the weirdest Christian-porn version of “Purple Rain” ever. Now twenty-five, she scores with a fantasy of the footloose youth she never had (”Nothin’ Better to Do”) and a Tanya Tucker-style tale of childhood strife (”Family”). The songs are uneven, but the peak is a duet with Mr. Nashville himself, Jon Bon Jovi.
