Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love Video and Lyrics
Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin, Music Video, Lyrics and Review
“Whole Lotta Love” featured as the opening track on their second album, Led Zeppelin II. It was their first hit single. In 2004, the song was ranked #75 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and in March 2005, Q magazine placed “Whole Lotta Love” at number 3 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks.
It was recorded at various studios in New York and Los Angeles during a 1969 concert tour of the United States and assembled by Jimmy Page at Olympic Studios in London. Already part of their live repertoire, it saw its first official release on the LP Led Zeppelin II on October 22, 1969.
Whole Lotta Love is “a woozy epic based on one simple, head-banging-friendly guitar riff” … “opens the album with a earth moving riff and then guitars soar and come crashing down throughout the song that is marked by a glass shattering vocal from Robert Plant.”

Much of the lyrics are taken from the Willie Dixon song “You Need Love”, a favorite of the band’s. The song had also been recorded by Muddy Waters in 1962 and by the Small Faces, as ‘You Need Loving’ for their debut Decca LP (Steve Marriott’s vocal style on the track being not dissimilar to Plant’s).
