Maximo Park - The Kids Are Sick Again Lyrics
The comforting ache
Of the summer holidays
Pointless days pining
Afternoons whining
The suburbs scream
At passers by
The scream of escape
A new siren
Wasted lives
Hope takes flight
I don’t mind
Losing self respect
I’ve done it before
And i’ll do it again
I’m stifled tonight
Which is fine
I’ve done it before
And i’ll do it again
I’m hotter than this
Under regular beams of light
Toothpaste smiles
Don’t seem so bright
I’m marching on
Don’t revise
I don’t mind
Losing self respect
I’ve done it before
And i’ll do it again
I’m thwarted tonight
Which is fine
See i’ve done it before
And i’ll do it again
The kids are sick again
Nothing to look forward to
They jumped the cliff again
Future sinks beneath the blue x4

When I first heard that this was to be the first single from Maximo Park’s new album I didn’t think that it stood out as much as Wraithlike, however it did stick in my head the couple of times I heard it live last year and since listening to it several times it does have such a catchy beat to it and has some stand out lyrics such as ‘I don’t mind losing self respect, I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again’. All in all I think that it is a pretty darn good song!

Seeing Maximo in Birmingham, can’t wait! Their new stuff is sounding awesome, the free download of ‘Wraithlike’ has been on repeat constantly. Bring on the new album!
