The single was premiered on Radio Disney on February 13, 2009 and released to iTunes as a Radio Disney Exclusive single on March 10, 2009. It charted at #56 on U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

The video for “Hoedown Throwdown” was released on February 16, 2009 on Disney Channel. It consists of a shortened version of the song with clips from how the song is used in the movie are used. The video is starring the movie’s choreographer Jamal Sims, Miley Cyrus, and back-up dancers.
