The MTV Europe Music Awards 2008 took place on November 6, 2008 in Liverpool, United Kingdom at the Echo Arena.
EMAs nominees were officially announced on September 29, 2008.
The hosts of the awards were Katy Perry with Perez Hilton hosting the official online coverage and MTV News from the red carpet and backstage on the night of the event.

How did Rick Astley won ‘Best Act Ever’ on EMA’s 2008 ?
The MTV EMA’s wasn’t safe from the infamous rickroll.
Rickrolling is an Internet meme typically involving the music video for the 1987 Rick Astley song “Never Gonna Give You Up”. The meme is a bait and switch: a person provides a Web link they claim is relevant to the topic at hand, but the link actually takes the user to the Astley video. When a person clicks on the link given and is led to the web page he/she is said to have been “Rickrolled”.

WELL. TO START WITH, CONGRATULATIONS TO TOKIO HOTEL FOR WINNING HEADLINER ACT.! The TH fans are so proud. (: It just goes to show what fans really do for an artist. Im glad they beat Metallica.

Its called CHEATING. The artist that SHOULD HAVE WON was the artist that won FAIR AND SQUARE by getting VOTED FOR by their FANS.

I think the show was actually quite amazing. The artists were really great and it all ran pretty smoothly.

This freakin sucks that Tokio Hotels defeated one of the greatest bands of all time Metallica. I’m a hard time Metallica fan and you fans vote for a band that has not sold over 100 million plus records, the black album one of the most sold rock albums of all time with 24 million world wide back in 1991, 7 grammys, and a dozen mtv awards. It makes me sick to see that happen, Metallica is the first band ever to have 5 albums hit number one on the charts, Death Magnetic was number 1 for like 2 months, and still in the top 5 already. Death Magnetic sold like 500,000 albums in its first week. Fans dont know music worth shit, music today sucks so bad. Rap and pop has taken over rock, I’m just glad that bands like Guns N Roses, Metallica, and ACDC, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Journey, have all come back to take rock and roll back where it needs to be at now.
