The Only Exception is the third single by American alternative rock band, Paramore, from their third album, “Brand New Eyes”.
The song is different for Paramore, it is much slower and less upbeat, it is deeply personal to singer Hayley Williams and the lyrics touch on how her parents’ relationship has influenced the way she deals with, and thinks about love. Hayley says of the release: “Now that it’s all said and on paper I’m not as insecure about [these lyrics] because I think these songs (on the album) form a full story that people are going to be able to connect with.”
It was released on April 19, 2010. The official music video for the song premiered on their official website on 17 February 2010.
