The best songs on the ‘I’M NOT DEAD’ album are the haunting “Long Way To Happy,” the tear-jerking yet biting “Dear Mr. President,” the personal “Nobody Knows,” the catchy as hell “Who Knew,” and the Paul McCartney/Sheryl Crow-esque acoustic “The One That Got Away”; they all brilliantly showcase what a talent this young woman is and the potential she has for a long career in music.
I’m Not Dead, though better than Try This (which, by the way, was a good album), is still lacking the freshness of Missundaztood and does swing a few strikes. source blogcritics.org

Pink figured her former friend would be around until they were old. She didn’t think one day her friend would die. She, like Pink, was young and full of life. She can’t understand why her friend had to be the one to pass on.
Pink’s sullen vocals are subdued and apathetic. The emptiness she’s describing is nonexistent in her words. It’s as though it doesn’t really affect her. It’s not until the end that she cries out in of anger that her friend is gone. However, it’s too late.

I don’t feel the dead friend bit in Who Knew, but she has taken over the angst of the Kelly Clarkson niche…

the song is for my daughter, ashley who was killed on 8/11/07 by a drunk driver. it’s so true about the words,,,who knew this would ever happen to her,,,she had much to live for including her baby daughter, alexandria, who was 20 months old at the time of her mother’s death. until we meet again, my darling, who knew.
