You can actually hear Rascal Flatts’ new single, “Take Me There” cross over from Country to pop as you listen to it.
At the start, it’s on the Nashpop side of Country; by the chorus, it’s turning pop; by the halfway stage, it’s pure pop, and by the end, it’s turned into a full blown pop power ballad.
It’s a shame. The song - co written by Wendell Mobley , Neil Thrasher and Kenny Chesney - has superb lyrics and the harmonies are brilliant. But as in most pop songs, the lead vocals lack any semblance of feeling.
This will not just get airplay on Country radio (where Lyrics Street Records have aimed it) but on mainstream pop radio too.
And, as a brilliant pop song, it is likely to top every imaginable chart, as will the album - “Still Feels Good” - due out in September. But that doesn’t make it a Country song. source coquet-shack.com
