Shame by Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow, Music Lyrics and Video
Shame is a song by Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow, taken from Williams’ second greatest hits collection, “In and Out of Consciousness”. It will be released as the lead single from the album on 4 October 2010 by Virgin Records. The single also marks the first time that both Barlow and Williams have performed together on a track since the latter left Take That in 1995.
The video was filmed at the Cowboy Palace Saloon in June 2010 and will have a country western theme. The video focuses on the relationship between Barlow and Williams, as well as Robbie’s feelings after he left Take That in 1995 and how he felt after they reformed without him and achieved unprecedented success. The song/video premiered on August 26, 2010.
Here you can watch the official video for the song.
Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow - Shame Lyrics
Well there’s three versions of this story mine, yours and then the truth
And we can put it down to circumstance, our childhood, then our youth
Out of some sentimental gain I wanted you to feel my pain, but it came back return to sender
I read your mind and tried to call, my tears could fill the Albert Hall, is this the sound of sweet surrender?
What a shame we never listened
I told you through the television
And all that went away was the price we paid
People spend a lifetime this way
Oh what a shame.
So I got busy throwing everybody underneath the bus
And with your poster 30 foot at the back of Toys-R-Us
I wrote a letter in my mind, but the words were so unkind, about a man I can’t remember
I don’t recall the reasons why, I must have meant them at the time, is this the sound of sweet surrender?
What a shame we never listened
I told you through the television
And all that went away was the price we paid

People spend a lifetime this way
And that’s how they stay
Oh what a shame.
Words come easy, when they’re true
Words come easy, when they’re true
So I got busy throwing everybody underneath the bus
And with your poster 30 foot at the back of Toys-R-Us
Now we can put it down to circumstance, our childhood then our youth.
What a shame we never listened
I told you through the television
And all that went away was the price we paid
People spend a lifetime this way
And that’s how they stay
Oh what a shame.
People spend a lifetime this way
Oh what a shame
Such a shame, what a shame

Great to have the lyrics and watch the video but it’s back to front. For a start, they are getting into right hand drive cars and then they are throwing stones into the river with their left hands! Novel.

I totally dislike the beard on Gary… He’s such a cute guy, can’t see why he’d get himself a beard :(
And this is more like a statement than a parody…
Not a brill song, but it’s real good to hear them together again.

I Do Love this song, it’s so true and frank, guys look very hot. I’ve been their fan since the very first years of Take That. I’m really glad they’re still together.
