Soulja Boy - Crank That Review

In the era of the teenage novelty rapper (see everyone from Lil’ Mama and Baby Boy Da Prince to Jibbs and Hurricane Chris) Atlanta’s Soulja Boy feels more promising than most. This isn’t because he’s a great rapper; his 16-bar verses are too brief and nonsensical. Rather, “Crank Dat” has formless though palpable energy that is transmitted via a backing track that is deceptively simple, with cuts and loops of scattered lines constantly folding over themselves and playing perfectly into Soulja’s aggressive randomness.

..This Soulja Boy character is getting on my last nerves making that “Crank That” song. How in the world does this 17 year old rookie which has no intellectual mind about real hip hop music get a freaking record deal with Interscope records. I mean what else is this no talented clown gonna say in his album, I got Bape Shoes, I want the teacher to change my grade from a F, to a D, I mean WOW isn’t that so wonderful. This music is basically for Kids that have no sence into listening to real hip hop music…

seriously, does anyone who dances to this song actually listen to those lyrics? i thought it was kind of catchy and fun at first, but after carefully listening to what he’s saying, it is one of the crudest and most deragatory rap songs out there to women. “superman that hoe?” come on. of course, anyone girl to get with him would HAVE to be a hoe.

This is just plain sad. The song is about masturbation, ejaculation and the subjugation of women (you all will need to find a dictionary besides urbandictionary.com to decode that word), under a thin layer of pseudo-urban nonsense.
