It was written by Taylor Swift and Liz Rose, here is how she got the idea for the song:
I had overheard a friend of mine talking to his girlfriend and he was completely on the defensive saying, “No, baby… I had to get off the phone really quickly…I tried to call you right back…Of course I love you. More than anything! Baby, I’m so sorry.” She was just yelling at him! I felt so bad for him at that moment.
So I came up with the first line (…) and I ran that into the story line that I’m in love with him and he should be with me instead of her. It just became this whole picture. It was really fun for us to write the line, “She wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts.”

omg i love this song its like me and my friend clay he
is falling for this girl named angel and nobody thinks she and him need to be together and she is leading him on and it makes me so mad because me Ex-best friend used to date clay and i liked him every seend then and we used to flirt all the time and he says he really like me and i really like him and everybody (well all my friends) say that me and him would be so cute together and that we really need to date and i think that too so everytime i lisen to this song i think of him i really like him.
