The Wombats - Lets Dance To Joy Division Lyrics

I’m back in Liverpool,
And everything seems the same,
But I worked something out last night,
That changed this little boys brain,
A small piece of advice,
That took twenty-two years in the make,
And I will break it for you now,
Please learn from my mistakes,
Please learn from my mistakes.

Let’s dance to joy division,
And celebrate the irony,
Everything is going wrong,
But we’re so happy,
Let’s dance to joy division,
And raise our glass to the ceiling,
‘Cos this could all go so wrong,
But we’re just so happy,
Yeah we’re so happy.

So if your ever feeling down,
Grab your purse and take a taxi,
To the darker side of town,
That’s where we’ll be,
And we will wait for you and lead you through the dancefloor,
Up to the D.J booth,
You know what to ask for,
You know what to ask for.

Go ask for Joy Division,
And celebrate the irony,
Everything is going wrong,
But we’re so happy,
Let’s dance to joy division,
And raise our glass to the ceiling,
‘Cos this could all go so wrong,
But we’re just so happy,
So happy.

So let the love tear us apart,
I’ve found the cure for a broken heart,
Let it tear us apart,
let the love tear us apart,
I’ve found the cure for a broken heart,
Let it tear us apart,
(Let it tear us apart)
So let the love tear us apart,
I’ve found the cure for a broken heart,
Let it tear us apart,
(Let it tear us apart)
So let the love tear us apart,
I’ve found the cure for a broken heart,
Let it tear us apart,
Let it tear us apart,
Let it tear us apart.

Let’s dance to joy division,
And celebrate the irony,
Everything is going wrong,
But were so happy,
Let’s dance to joy division,
And raise our glass to the ceiling,
‘Cos this could all go so wrong,
But we’re just so happy,
Yeah we’re so happy,
So happy,
Yeah we’re so happy,
So happy,
Yeah we’re so happy.

The Wombats - Let’s Dance To Joy Division Review

SHOULD you be one of the many lads or ladettes that’s found themselves mounting a table down the local dance parlour and spinning in a stupor on top of it to Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart, there’ll be a space reserved in your heart for The Wombats’ latest 45.

There’s little to pogo about in Ian Curtis’ poignant tale of a relationship gone stale, but it’s never cleared a dancefloor yet.

Let’s Dance To Joy Division couldn’t be more of a polar opposite. It drunkenly straddles that narrow divide between teeny bop and retro pop with furiously infectious results, jumping from one school of thought to another: a little bit of The Cribs, a spattering of Franz Ferdinand, some Arcade Fire and The Automatic, a Pink Floyd-style kids choir and every primary colour in-between.

And while there’s a danger of upsetting the Joy Division faithful, I’m inclined to think that even Ian Curtis could find occasion to smile at this one, and even find time to revel in the irony that it took a bunch of Merseyside lads to point out the paradox.
