Song Information
The song was titled “American Life” when the two songwriters submitted the demo to Keith. According to Keith, Dave Pahanish and Joe West said that Keith was “the only guy in the world that could get away with cutting it”. He also said that he considered the song “so different” and had it on his iPod for a year before recording it.
