VV Brown - Shark In The Water Lyrics

Sometimes I get my head in a dilly
Feeling so lost, ticking you off
Now boy, you know me well
Said, I’m that kind of feeling
That kind of soft, that kind of silly
But when I’m in doubt, I open my mouth
And words come out, words come out like

Baby, there’s a shark in the water
There’s something underneath my bed
Oh, please believe I said
Baby, there’s a shark in the water
I caught them barking at the moon
Better be soon

High in the sky, the song that I’m singing
A sweet little lie, I cry wolf, cry
Rather have you lie yeah, so that’s why I’m bringing
Some tricks up my sleeve, for noticing me
I wouldn’t cause you any harm, I just want you in my arms
I can’t help, I can’t myself

Baby, there’s a shark in the water
There’s something underneath my bed
Oh, please believe I said
Baby, there’s a shark in the water
I caught them barking at the moon
Better be soon

(Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do ,do)
(Better be soon)
(Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do x2)

Right is right
Rules are rules
This is more like April Fool’s
I’m just winding you up, oh
Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Please don’t make too much of it
It ain’t that serious

Baby, there’s a shark in the water
There’s something underneath my bed
Oh, please believe I said
Baby, there’s a shark in the water
I caught them barking at the moon
You better get here soon

Baby, there’s a shark in the water
Baby, there’s a shark in the water
Baby, there’s a shark in the water
I caught them barking at the moon
Better be soon

I had a go at trying to transcribe the lyrics myself.
Not too sure about the third line of the second verse but I hope this helps.

    Thank you for the lyrics.

  2. hh Says:

Absolutely gorgeous tune. Good work on the lyrics. But the first line is ‘Sometimes I get my head in a dilly,’ and after ‘Right is right, rules are rules,’ she sings ‘This is more like April Fool’s.’

  3. rachel Says:

AAAHHHH!!! the most amazing song in the history of songs! i LOVE vvbrown! she seems a genuinley nice person too (I saw her on behind the scenes of her other [amazing] song- Leave)

  4. rachel Says:

for the above comment, I mean I saw her behind the scenes on TV, not in real life (I wish!)

  5. hh Says:

The fourth line of the first verse is, of course, ‘Said, I’m that kind of filly.’ Now, while we wait for the album’s release, let’s try to decipher that third line of the second verse. Anyone?

  6. rachel Says:

Ummmm no idea about the third line of the second verse here! I love her music soo much! Nobody at my school has heard of her yet! stupids….

I think the 3rd line of 2nd verse is:
“Rabbit out the hat, yes thats what i’m bringing.”

Not 100% sure, but it kinda fits… And makes sense with the next line.
    Hope this helps! :D

I have never ever heard of this artist or this song till I started watching The City and The Hills. Both Great shows! Not only are their shows great but they give new artist exposure and that’s a good thing. I would have never heard of the new music or the new up and coming artist if it weren’t for these two great shows. I hope they remain on tv.

  19. Kat Says:

it doesn’t go “Baby there’s a shark in the water.” It’s “Maybe, there’s a shark in the water” . Such a good song

“Rabbit out the hat, yeah…” is the beginning of the 3rd line of the second verse.

  25. Kayla Says:

This is what VV Brown said herself

Brown told Digital Spy that the song title refers to anxiety. She explained: “I guess I’m trying to create a new phrase. When something’s not quite right or there’s some kind of a problem, you might say, ‘Maybe there’s a shark in the water.’ The video expresses anxiety in a relationship situation, but generally I’d like the song to be a bit more ambiguous. It could be anxiety about anything.”
